From my experience learning Houdini, I do not think the first task is to understand things properly.
It is to be exposed to what can be done.
The early stage is not about remembering.
It is about recognition.
After enough exposure, certain things start to feel familiar.
Not understood yet — just familiar enough to have a name.
You’re building a vocabulary.
Later, those words become the first landmarks.
Over time, those landmarks become a map.
A personal map shaped by:
Depth comes from the work eventually.
A project creates a problem.
